Sometimes a painting emerges after a brief moment of observation. This illustration was inspired by a glance out of the window of an old farmhouse that we stayed in close to the sea. I saw a beautiful black mare galloping up hill behind the flowering hawthorn trees, just as two swallows swooped through the sky above.
